Viva-voce for research scholars was conducted last week at the Anna University Regional Campus, Coimbatore, and affiliated colleges elsewhere to enable them to receive their Ph.D. degrees during February at the main campus next month.

Research scholars who had successfully defended their Ph.D. viva-voce early on were required to register their particulars with the Centre for Research portal for receiving the degree in person during the convocation ceremony scheduled on February 4, 2026. The Centre for Research has been updating on a daily basis the list of research scholars who had successfully defended their Ph.D. viva-voce till June 30, 2025.

For those who had completed the process after June 30, the date and time during February will be intimated for conferment of the degree, according to a circular issued on January 22 by the office of the Controller of Examinations.

Ph.D. enrolment is over 2,261 in the four campuses, and 13,247 in other campuses, in the branches of Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Planning, Science and Humanities and Management Sciences.

The candidates are admitted twice a year. Foreign scholars are admitted through ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) and QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) scholars through AICTE.

The Centre for Research, Anna University, has recognised around 6,000 teaching staff/experts as supervisors for guiding research scholars.

The Centre allows research scholars to submit soft copy of synopsis and thesis online to speed up the processes.
