Siruthuli, a non-governmental organisation working on water conservation, screened Wild Tamil Nadu, a documentary directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Kalyan Varma, at the PSG IMSR Auditorium in Coimbatore on Monday.
The documentary draws inspiration from Sangam literature and explores the diverse ecosystems of Tamil Nadu, documenting its varied landscapes and lesser-known wildlife.
The soundtrack for the documentary has been composed by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej, while the narration is by actor Arvind Swamy.
Kalyan Varma, who was present at the screening, said the motivation behind the documentary stemmed from the diversity of Tamil Nadu’s landscapes. “The State has an extraordinary range of terrains and ecosystems,” he said.
Managing Trustee of Siruthuli, Vanitha Mohan, said the documentary “showcases some of the most breathtaking terrains of Tamil Nadu.”
The film was produced as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by Sundaram Fasteners Ltd., in collaboration with Nature InFocus, with support from the Tamil Nadu Forest Department.
The screening was attended by sponsors, special invitees, members of Siruthuli, Pricol staff, school and college students.
