Singareni workers’ welfare top priority of govt.: Bhatti

The Telangana government is according top priority to the welfare of the workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

In a statement, Mr. Vikramarka said that all issues related to the medical invalidation of the workers will be resolved through the concerned medical boards in every possible way.

He said, “The government will constitute a committee to ensure that all the facilities, including tax-related benefits, are extended to the SCCL workers on a par with officers in accordance with Coal India norms. To fulfill the dream of SCCL employees to own a house, government will extend support for housing as decided by the high-power committee,” and reiterated that various other issues of the workers will be resolved expeditiously.

He noted that as many as 2,539 posts were filled in the SCCL since the Congress government assumed office. Of these, 798 are external posts and 1,741 appointments were made on compassionate grounds. The SCCL recorded the highest profits in its history amounting to ₹6,394 crore in 2024-25 fiscal.

Of this, 34% as profit share to the tune of ₹802 crore was paid to workers. Additionally, profit share of ₹5,500 each was paid to outsourced service personnel, he said, outlining various other welfare measures initiated by the State government for the SCCL workers over the last two years.
