Brigadier P. Sunil Kumar, a native of Kozhikode, was awarded the Sena Medal (Distinguished) on the occasion of Republic Day, in recognition of his exemplary service during his tenure at the Headquarters of the Eastern Command in Kolkata.

This is the third Sena Medal conferred on Brigadier Sunil Kumar. His earlier two Sena Medals were awarded for gallantry, underscoring a career marked by operational excellence and distinguished service in the Indian Army, a press release said.

At present, he is serving as the Commandant of the Mechanised Infantry Centre and School (MIC&S), Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The MIC&S is the Army’s premier training institution for mechanised infantry warfare. The officer is the son of Pathieri Rajan, a retired Air Force officer, and late Swarnam Rajan of Mankavu, Kozhikode.
