Two sanitary workers suffer electric shock while on duty

TTwo sanitary workers, who were on duty, suffered serious injuries after they came into contact with a streetlight pole, with leakage of high-voltage electricity, while on duty near Tarapore Tower on Anna Salai, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The injured were identified as A. Kalaivani, 36, of Annai Sathya Nagar in Triplicane, and K. Varalakshmi, 42

Passers-by rushed to their rescue and shifted them to the Omandurar Government Multi-Speciality Hospital. Hospital sources said both women sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).
