Amrita Vidyalaya wins Inter-School Recycling Championship

Amrita Vidyalaya, Kalapatti, won the ITC WOW Inter-School Recycling Championship 2025, collecting 9.3 tonnes of dry recyclable waste and securing the title for the second consecutive year. ITC Limited conducted the Wellbeing out of Waste (WOW) initiative in Coimbatore. Master T. Elan from Silver Leaf Montessori School, Tiruppur, won the Best Student Award for collecting over 275 kg of waste.

Sanket Balwant Waghe, Additional Collector, District Rural Development Agency awarded the winners and said that cleanliness was possible only when the government, civil society and the public worked together. He added that initiatives like WOW help build awareness among students.

Umakanth, Deputy General Manager of WOW, said that two lakh students from 250 schools participated and collected a total of 215 metric tonnes of recyclable waste, and helped to save nearly 4,000 trees.
