The Rail Users Federation has proposed a plea for extending the Jan Shatabdi Express to Chidambaram and operating the Chemmozhi Express via Thirunallar to Tiruchi Railway Division.
The Rail Users Federation of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, during a meeting with the Tiruchirapalli Divisional Railway Manager, placed several passenger-focused proposals for consideration.
The Federation suggested extending the Jan Shatabdi Express from Mayiladuthurai to Chidambaram without altering current timings, citing growing demand and better regional connectivity. It also sought the introduction of 2-Tier AC and Non-AC seat-cum-berth coaches on a trial basis to benefit senior citizens and long-distance travellers.
The Federation further recommended routing the Chemmozhi Express via Thirunallar to support increasing pilgrim movement. Aadhaar-linked regulation and additional cancellation charges were suggested to avoid frequent last minute ticket cancellation.
Requests for improved luggage regulation, platform extensions at key stations, and the establishment of a railway station in Krishnagiri district were also placed before the authorities. The Federation expressed confidence that the proposals would be duly considered.
