India’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Vikram Doraiswami, paid a courtesy call on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in London on Tuesday. They discussed potential collaborations between the universities in the U.K. and Andhra Pradesh across key sectors.
In a post on social media platform X, Mr. Naidu said, “Delighted to meet Shri Vikram Doraiswami, High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, in London today. We discussed strengthening trade relations, education collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship, and diaspora engagement between Andhra Pradesh and the UK.”
During the meeting, Mr. Naidu explored the possibility of setting up university centres in Andhra Pradesh in partnership with leading U.K. institutions. The discussions also focused on forming joint ventures with the Central government’s support to enhance research, innovation, and higher education standards in the State.
Both sides agreed to work towards academic partnerships that would allow student exchange programmes and collaborative research initiatives between universities in the U.K. and educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh.
The talks emphasised cooperation in life sciences, bio-genetics, mineral extraction, and metals research, as well as emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, space technology, core engineering, and Marine Industry 4.0.
The meeting is expected to pave the way for a new era of academic and technological collaboration between Andhra Pradesh and the U.K., according to an official release.
