The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday, approved investment proposals worth ₹1,01,899 crore submitted by 26 industries, with a potential to generate 85,870 jobs in Andhra Pradesh.
With the latest approvals, the State’s total investment inflows under the current government have reached ₹8,08,899 crore, with the potential to create employment opportunities for 7.05 lakh people, according to official data presented during the meeting.
Emphasising the need for swift execution of the projects, the Chief Minister said, “Ensure that all sanctioned industries are grounded as per schedule.”
Underscoring the importance of maintaining an industrial land bank, Mr. Naidu advised the officials to encourage landowners willing to provide land for industrial use to facilitate rapid industrialisation.
He instructed them to develop 15 industrial zones for cluster-based industrial growth and fully leverage Central government incentives to attract and support new ventures.
Regional development
Outlining his broader vision for regional development, Mr. Naidu said Visakhapatnam should evolve into a Mega City by merging its surrounding areas up to Vizianagaram and Anakapalli.
Similarly, Amaravati and Tirupati would be developed as major hubs for tourism and IT. Several IT companies have evinced interest in investing in Visakhapatnam following the Google’s announcement to set up an AI data centre there.
Stressing the need to strengthen infrastructure in that region, Mr Naidu said that three IAS officers would be appointed to oversee the development of the State’s three economic corridors.
Mr. Naidu also reviewed preparations for the CII Partnership Summit scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15.
He directed that foundation stones be laid for select companies ahead of the summit, which is expected to attract significant domestic and international investments.
Ministers Nara Lokesh, K. Atchannaidu, T.G. Bharat, P. Narayana, Gottipati Ravikumar, Anagani Satyaprasad, B.C. Janardhana Reddy, Vasamsetti Subhas, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
