A line inspector attached to the Assistant Engineer (Operations) office in Pedda Amberpet, Hyderabad, was trapped by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) at a popular breakfast centre in Bandlaguda on Wednesday while accepting a ₹6,000 bribe from a contractor.

The accused, identified as Prabhu Lal, demanded the bribe for releasing service numbers for a 63 KV transformer and new electricity meters installed at an apartment in Thattiannaram in Abdullapurmet mandal.

The tainted amount was recovered from his possession. He was arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases in Nampally.

Further investigation into the case is under way, and the complainant’s details have been withheld for security reasons.

Meanwhile, the ACB urged citizens to report any instances of public servants demanding bribes by calling the toll-free number 1064 or sending a message via WhatsApp at 9440446106. Complaints can also be lodged through ACB’s social media handles on Facebook and X.
