Actor Krishna on Wednesday appeared before the officers of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for an inquiry in connection with a cocaine peddling case, in which, he and actor Srikanth were arrested by the Greater Chennai city police.
Originally, the Nungambakkam police began an investigation after two groups clashed at a bar in the area in May. Police unearthed the links between Prasad, an AIADMK functionary, and a drug cartel comprising Prado alias Pradeep, and his associates from foreign countries, operating from Bengaluru. Subsequently, Prasad and Srikanth were arrested by Nungambakkam Police on June 23 in the cocaine case. Following which, actor Krishna and Jaswir alias Kevin, a supplier of drugs, were arrested on June 26.
More than 25 persons have been arrested by police in the cocaine case, and ED also unearthed transaction of money with a foreign national. A case of money laundering arose from the case filed by Nungambakkam Police.
Krishna, along with his lawyers, appeared before ED officers while Srikanth sought to appear on another day, said sources.
