Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar, who will make his Telugu lead debut with the biopic Gummadi Narasaiah, offered prayers at the Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada, seeking divine blessings for the film.
Speaking to the media, the actor said he is honoured to portray a leader who dedicated his life to the people. Mr. Shiva Rajkumar noted that though he earlier appeared in a song for Balakrishna’s 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni and played a special role in Peddi starring Ram Charan, this is his first full-length lead role in Telugu.
He said he instantly agreed to the project when director Parameshwar Hivrale narrated the script, calling it a story that deserves to be told and one that would inspire many. The film explores the life and struggles of five-time MLA Gummadi Narasaiah, known for his grassroots politics and repeated electoral victories from Yellandu between 1983–1994 and 1999–2009 in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Shiva Rajkumar said it was his first visit to Vijayawada and that he felt positive energy at the temple. Shooting is expected to begin soon. The actor was accompanied by his wife, the director and other members of the team.
