Actor Srikanth on Tuesday appeared before the officers of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in Nungambakkam after it had summoned him for questioning in connection with a cocaine peddling case in which he and actor Krishna were involved and arrested by the Greater Chennai Police a few months ago.
Originally, the Nungambakkam police began an investigation after two groups clashed at a bar in Nungambakkam in May. Eight persons, including Prasad (who was an AIADMK functionary), were arrested. The police unearthed the links between Prasad and a drug cartel, comprising Prado alias Pradeep and his associates including John, a Ghana national who was operating from Bengaluru.
The police said he obtained cocaine from them for the last three years and sold it to his friends, including Srikanth. Prasad and Srikanth were arrested by the Nungambakkam police on June 23 in the cocaine case. Following this, actor Krishna and Jaswir alias Kevin, a supplier of drugs, were arrested on June 26. The police said over 25 persons were arrested by the Nungambakkam police in the cocaine case, and they also unearthed transactions of money with foreign nationals.
