Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has sought police permission to hold a public meeting in Puducherry on December 9.
A delegation of leaders from the TVK’s Puducherry unit on Thursday (December 4, 2025) met Senior Superintendent of Police, Law and Order, R. Kalaivanan and requested him to accord permission for holding a public meeting at the Uppalam ground in the Union Territory (UT).

“The leaders gave a representation seeking permission to conduct the public meeting at the Uppalam ground on December 9. We will take a decision after holding consultations,“ Mr. Kalaivanan told The Hindu.
The party had previously planned to hold a roadshow of TVK president Vijay in Puducherry on December 5. After the party approached Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Director General of Police (DGP) Shalini Singh for the same, several social organisations had advised the government against giving permission for the event.
Two days ago, the police informed the TVK leadership of their inability to accord permission for the roadshow. The party was asked to come up with a different form of public event involving Mr. Vijay in Puducherry.
