The Union government has appointed Satish Adiga, head of the department of Clinical Embryology with Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, as an expert member of the National Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) & Surrogacy Board.

A release from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) said the National ART & Surrogacy Board under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is the highest authority responsible for overseeing assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy services across India. It guarantees that these services are safe, ethical, and transparent. The board advises the Union government on policy matters, regulates and monitors ART clinics and gamete banks, sets standards and codes of conduct and manages the national registry. Its duties also include preventing misuse of technology, protecting patient rights, and promoting responsible research and innovation in reproductive medicine.

Dr. Adiga has over 30 years of expertise in IVF embryology, infertility treatment and quality management. He is well known for work in IVF training, fertility research and promoting best practices in ART, both in India and abroad. MAHE has welcomed his appointment, highlighting the institution’s long standing dedication to clinical excellence, innovation, and leadership in public health.
