Advocate P. R. Ramakrishnan shaped the careers of many by emphasising on ethics and fairness, Supreme Court Judge K.V. Viswanathan said on Saturday at an event in Coimbatore marking his 50 years in the legal profession.
Justice Viswanathan said Mr. Ramakrishnan had expertise in civil, company, arbitration, and property matters, with drafting and courtroom work marked by clarity and method.
Justice Sunder Mohan of the Madras High Court described Mr. Ramakrishnan as part of a rare breed of lawyers combining competence, integrity, and longevity. He highlighted his calm demeanor in court, meticulous preparation, and guidance to juniors without condescension, noting that he had mentored over 60 juniors throughout his career.
Justice P. T. Asha of the Madras High Court noted Mr. Ramakrishnan’s court presence, precise diction, and persuasive argumentation. She highlighted his careful drafting, composed approach, and subtle sense of humour, which earned respect from colleagues and juniors alike.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ramakrishnan expressed gratitude to his father, P.S. Ramachandran Iyer, under whom he began his legal practice, credited him for shaping his early career.
