The Afzalgunj police on Friday arrested three members of an inter-State gang allegedly involved in a string of house burglary attempts and vehicle thefts across the city, recovering a stolen motorcycle from their possession.

The arrest followed a complaint from Dasa Sai Kumar, 37, who reported that his younger brother’s bike had gone missing from their residential parking area on November 18.

Officers identified the accused as Sikligar Kirtipal Sinh, 40, from Vadodara in Gujarat, Surjeet Singh, 45, from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, and Balvir Singh, 28, also from Indore. Police said the trio, all key makers by trade, arrived in Hyderabad intending to carry out house burglaries and had taken a lodge in Secunderabad for temporary shelter. The stolen bike was allegedly taken to help them move around the city during their planned break-ins.

Investigators said the accused confessed to stealing the motorcycle and to attempting two house break-ins in Sultan Bazaar and Narayanguda, though they left empty-handed.

Officers seized tools and items used for housebreaking from the trio, including scissor-made keys, woollen gloves, mobile phones, a file tool and a knife measuring 31 cm with a 19 cm blade. Police noted that all three have a history of property offences, with cases registered against them in Delhi, Indore and other jurisdictions over the past several years.

Investigators said the gang had planned multiple burglaries across Hyderabad.
