The Agri and All Trade chamber has welcomed the judgment of the Supreme Court on removal of stray dogs from public places.
In a press release issued here on Saturday, chamber president S. Rethinavelu said that the landmark judgement, in a suo moto case, delivered on November 7 directing all States and Union Territories to immediately remove stray dogs from the premises of educational institutions, hospitals, sports complexes, bus stands and depots and railway stations, and to relocate them to designated shelters after due sterilisation and vaccination in accordance with the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, was welcome.
The Chamber appreciated the apex court verdict that the non-release of stray dogs to the same locality from which they were picked up. By making India free of stray dogs, tourism will flourish and consequently the activities of trade & industry would also prosper.
The Supreme Court has given a much needed and sought for relief to women, children, elderly people who were the major victims of stray dogs.
The Chamber urged the Tamil Nadu government and local bodies to act promptly in compliance with the Supreme Court order, the release said.
