The All India Agricultural Workers’ Union on Thursday led a massive sit-in protest alleging inaction by the revenue department on the petitions for house pattas for the poor.
The protest by the Left-affiliated farmers’ association saw hundreds of women participating in the sit-in protest demanding answers from the revenue department for the petitions seeking house pattas for the poor residing on the government poramboke. The protesters primarily represented by women alleged that petitions submitted a year ago had not seen fruition and that the residents were unaware of the status of the petitions.
The protest witnessed hundreds of women thronging outside the taluk office.
However, talks were held with the protesters by the revenue officials assuring them of timely action on their demands.
