A five-day pre-conference workshop titled ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Neurochemical Insights: From Model Systems to Real-World Neurochemistry’ began at the Ideation Lab, Department of Pharmacology, JSS College of Pharmacy in Mysuru on Tuesday, November 11.
The workshop is a part of the upcoming International Conference on Sustainable Brain Health: Advances in Neurochemistry and Neuropharmacology (JSS-SNCI-CON2025) and the 39th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neurochemistry, to be held from November 17 to 19.
Dr. Sulie Chang, Distinguished University Research Professor and Director of the Institute of Neuro-Immune Pharmacology (INIP), Seton Hall University, New Jersey, USA, inaugurated the workshop.
JSS Pharmacy College Principal Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar said that the college’s faculty is contributing to drug discovery, including neurological disorders. Organising Secretary Dr. Saravana Babu C. explained the purpose and expected outcomes of the workshop. The workshop focuses on equipping the next generation of neurochemists and neuropharmacologists with advanced practical skills in AI, big data analytics, rodent cognitive assessment, and animal imaging, a press release said.
Ther are a total of 35 participants from institutions like BITS Pilani, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Indian Institutes of Technology, NIMHANS, North-Eastern Hill University, Pondicherry University, and Nandha College of Pharmacy.
The opening day of the workshop covered the fundamentals of AI and machine learning in neuroscience research with hands-on Python training for data analysis.
On the concluding day on November 15, the workshop will highlight the role of AI in psychiatric drug discovery, along with industry–academia interaction, neurochemical network modelling, and an innovation pitch competition, the release said.
