
Invitations for the 67th Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan, to be conducted by Akashvani Mysuru, being released by Prasar Bharati staff in the city on Thursday, November 20.

The 67th Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan will be held in the city at Ganabharathi’s Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar on Sunday, November 23.
The concert will feature a veena recital by Vidhushi Dr. S.V. Sahana and a percussion concert ‘Mrudunga Taranga’ by H.L. Shivashankarswamy and group.
Announcing this, Mr. N. Manjunath Bedre, the programme head of Akashvani Mysuru, said that the programme will be inaugurated by Karnataka State Open University Vice-Chancellor Sharanappa V. Halase. The event will commence from 6 p.m. and is free and open to all.
Mr. Bedre said the Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan is a prestigious cultural festival of India and 66 such conferences have been held since its inception in 1954.
He said both Carnatic and Hindustani Classical music constitute India’s cultural heritage and AIR has played a significant role in their spread.
This apart, equal priority has also been given to light music and folk music and the main objective of the programme is to popularise the rich musical heritage of India. It is a prestigious platform for not just well-known singers but emerging talents too, Mr. Bedre added.
