All arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of ‘Karthika Pournami’ festivities at Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam, scheduled on Wednesday night.
Srisailam temple Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday reviewed the arrangements for the festivities and asked officials to monitor the queue lines properly. He wanted officials to ensure that there was no stampede-like situation in the queue lines and to work in coordination.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao asked Vigilance officials to take steps for free movement of traffic in the temple town and coordinate with the local police. As a large number of devotees would take a holy dip on the auspicious occasion of Karthika Pournami, Mr. Srinivasa Rao asked officials to take adequate precautionary measures at the Patalaganga Ghat. Similarly, devotees should not face any inconvenience at the prasadam counters, he said.
The temple EO asked officials to start the distribution of ’annaprasadam’ for the devotees. He wanted officials to arrange barricading at the ’Jwalathoranam’ event and also telecast the ritual by installing LED screens.
Meanwhile, Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner P. Viswanatha, inspected the arrangements for the lighting of lamps at K.C. Canal Vinayak Ghat, with the officials. He also directed officials to make arrangements for lighting, sound system, water, sanitation and also engaged expert swimmers in case of emergency.
Traffic disrupted on Srisailam-Hyderabad route
Meanwhile, the vehicular traffic on the Srisailam-Hyderabad route came to a halt for few hours following a landslide near Srisailam Dam area. The town witnessed intermittent heavy rains since morning resulting in landslides. Police reached the spot and cleared the fallen boulders and restored movement of traffic on the route.
