Works pertaining to the beautification of and expansion of green cover in capital city Amaravati will commence from January-end, 2026, according to Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana.

Speaking to the media after reviewing the development works with the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) officials at Rayapudi on Wednesday, he unveiled the elaborate plans to transform Amaravati into a ā€œgreen, recreationally rich and environmentally sustainable capital city.ā€

Mr. Narayana said the Amaravati Master Plan earmarked 30% of its 217 sq. km area for Blue-Green zones, including water bodies, parks and ecological landscapes. ā€œGreen corridors will be developed along the 34 trunk roads, covering 640 km on either side and 450 km on medians,ā€ he said.

Buffer zones on 22 trunk roads would receive 133-km of avenue plantation, while 1,244-km of greenery was planned around Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) areas, he said. A 190-acre public recreation park at Shakamuru and a 21-acre facility near Malkapuram would offer leisure spaces. At Anantavaram, a 31-acre lung space park would come up, while a 200-acre biodiversity park was planned at Kuragallu.

On the LPS front, the Minister said out of 69,421 plots allotted to 29,233 farmers, registration of 7,743 plots for 2,168 farmers was pending. ā€œA special cell will be established at the CRDA office to resolve farmers’ concerns. The government has launched ₹900 crore worth of basic infrastructure works in capital villages, and surveys are underway,ā€ he added.

Land acquisition

Mr. Narayana urged the farmers who didn’t participate in the LPS in the first phase to come forward, as otherwise the government would acquire the required lands under the Land Acquisition Act.

ā€œThe second phase of land pooling for 16,666 acres has begun for railway tracks, stations, ring roads and sports city, while additional land will be required for the international airport and smart industries,ā€ he said.
