The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has informed that a state-of-the-art “Cosmos Planetarium” will be established in Amaravati. The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is set to sign an MoU with APCRDA for the project during the foundation-laying ceremony of several major bank headquarters scheduled for November 28, 2025.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and several senior public representatives are expected to attend the event, marking a significant step in strengthening Amaravati’s educational and scientific ecosystem. The capital city, which already hosts several prominent educational and medical institutions, is poised for further expansion with new institutions, the launch of Quantum Valley activities, and progress in tourism and infrastructure development projects.
Officials said the upcoming planetarium will provide immense benefits to students by offering clear visual understanding of astronomy-related subjects including the universe, planets, stars and galaxies. Through advanced 3D and dome projection technology, students will be able to explore cosmic phenomena and develop deeper interest in science, technology and space research. The initiative is expected to inspire future careers in astronomy and space sciences by nurturing curiosity and scientific temperament among young learners.
