APMIDC GM arrested in disproportionate assets case

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted raids on the properties of Andhra Pradesh Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMIDC), Vijayawada, General Manager (GM) Malladi Venkata Suryakala, and unearthed properties valued at around ₹6 crore, allegedly disproportionate to her known source of income.

Acting on information that the official had amassed assets disproportionate to her legal sources of income, the ACB team on Friday conducted searches on the properties belonging to her and her relatives in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada.

During the raids, immovable properties such as houses, agricultural lands and house sites were identified at 27 places, fixed deposits worth ₹2 crore, two cars, gold and silver ornaments and ₹9 lakh cash have been seized, the officials said in a release.

The General Manager has been arrested and further investigation is on. Searches are continuing, the investigation officers said.
