The State Cabinet meeting held here on Wednesday approved the Azhikkal port development project, which is expected to be a milestone in the development of Kannur. The meeting approved the amendment to the terms of the order issued on 22-08-2024, subject to the approval of the Finance department.
The order dated 22-08-2024 approved the detailed project report submitted by Malabar International Port and SEZ Limited and the financial structure report prepared and submitted by the Centre for Management Development for the development of Azheekal port.
According to Ports Minister V.N. Vasavan, the project is being implemented with the aim of achieving a development leap by utilising the potential of Kerala’s small ports.
Reconstituted
The Kerala State Commission for Economically Backward Classes among Forward Communities has been reconstituted. Former High Court judge C.N. Ramachandran Nair is the Chairman of the Commission, while Sebastian Choondal and G. Rathikumar are members.
