The Municipal Commissioner of Armoor in Nizamabad district and his driver were arrested on Thursday (November 27, 2025) for accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant.
The accused official, identified as A. Raju, and his driver Bhumesh were trapped at the Commissioner’s residence. The bribe was demanded in exchange for allotting a house number for a newly-constructed building.
During the search, officials recovered the bribe amount from the driver’s possession and also found ₹4.3 lakh in unaccounted cash in his bag. Both were produced before the special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway.
The ACB has urged citizens to report any demand for bribes via the 1064 toll-free number or through its social media platforms, assuring confidentiality of complainants.
