An Assistant Director of Agriculture has been placed under suspension for sexually harassing a temporary woman worker.
As Assistant Director of Agriculture, Ottapidaaram, Arivazhagan allegedly sexually harassed a woman temporary worker of his department in person and over the phone, the victim filed a complaint with District Collector K. Elambahavath. She also submitted the audio clip in which Arivazhagan was reportedly speaking with the woman in an inappropriate manner.
Following instructions from the Collector, the Internal Inquiry Committee investigated the complaint and found the charges against Arivazhagan to be true. Hence, Mr. Elambahavath recommended to the Director of Agriculture for taking appropriate action against the erring officer, who was suspended on Tuesday.
Arivazhagan, when he was serving in Tenkasi district, was suspended for being under the influence of alcohol while on duty and the suspension was revoked later.
