The Tamil Nadu All Government College UGC Qualified Guest Lecturers Association has requested the authorities to extend the deadline, by two days, for assistant professors whose online applications for vacancies in government arts and science colleges have not been accepted due to technical issues.
On October 15, an announcement was made for recruitment of 2,708 assistant professors through the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB).
In a press release on Monday, association state president V. Thangaraj said, “The TRB had set November 10 for submission, and November 13 as the deadlines to edit the online applications. November 30 was fixed as the last date for submission of service certificates. However, many applicants seem to have misunderstood the instructions, and have chosen to submit all their papers on November 30 instead of the prescribed dates. Others are facing technical issues with the online process. As a result of the confusion, over 400 candidates have been unable to register for the vacancies, even though they have already appeared for the TRB qualifying examination held in 2024.”
The release claimed that colleges were compounding the problem by delaying the certificates by 10-20 days, and that some were demanding a fee of ₹2,000-₹10,000 from applicants.
“The association requests the authorities to extend the deadline for online submissions by two days in order to help the affected applicants,” the press release said.
