The Tamil Nadu All Government College UGC Qualified Guest Lecturers Association has requested the authorities to extend the deadline by two weeks, for submission of service experience certificates to the 2,708 assistant professors who have applied for vacancies in government arts and science colleges.
On October 15 an announcement was made for recruitment of 2,708 assistant professors through the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB).
However, three weeks down, most institutions are yet to begin the process of issuing experience certificates for applicants, said the association.
In an official press release on Wednesday, association state president V. Thangaraj said, “Experience certificates carry a weightage of 15 marks in the recruitment process. The TRB has set November 10 as the deadline for the online applications, and November 30 as the last date for submission of service certificates. Since at least 90% of government colleges have not yet issued these certificates, we request the authorities to consider extend the deadline by two weeks, to allow institutions to complete the paperwork for all the applicants.”
Mr. Thangaraj added that the lack of uniformity in the application process was affecting assistant professors in government and private colleges. “For recruitment, it was the norm for assistant professors to submit a copy of their service certificate with that of salary acquittance until now. But there is a further delay caused by the stipulation of applicants having to submit a copy of attendance registers. The sudden change of submission guidelines after 15 years is causing undue confusion,” he said.
