Karnataka’s Home Minister G. Parameshwara said that the men involved in the ₹7.11-crore cash van robbery in Bengaluru on November 19 had switched vehicles and used fake number plates soon after the heist, making the investigation more complex.

Addressing reporters in Bengaluru on November 20, Dr. Parameshwara said the police have strong leads, and expressed confidence that the culprits will be arrested soon.

“It is not yet clear which vehicle was used by them during the escape. It was verified that they had changed vehicles and moved the money. Investigations are on to ascertain if this vehicle has left Karnataka. One vehicle (Toyota Innova) used in the heist had the registration number belonging to a Maruti Suzuki Swift owned by a person not related to the case,” he said.

Dr. Parameshwara added that officials are examining CCTV camera footage across Bengaluru and neighbouring districts to track down the movement of the gang.

The robbery took place on November 19 afternoon when the accused, posing as RBI officials, intercepted a CMS cash van near Jayanagar. They diverted the vehicle towards the Dairy Circle flyover, where they allegedly took the cash after threatening the driver at gunpoint.

The gang used at least two more vehicles, which could be the getaway cars.
