Traffic Investigation Police, Koyambedu, arrested an autorickshaw driver for rash driving and performing wheelies on a public road at Koyambedu.
On Wednesday night, police received information that an autorickshaw driver was driving at high speed and performing wheelies (raising the front wheel of the vehicle) near the CMBT bus stop on 100 Feet Road, causing panic among the public.
Koyambedu Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case. Based on CCTV footage from the area and videos of the stunt posted online, the autorickshaw was traced and the accused identified as Vasudevan, alias ‘Puncture’ Vasu, 41, of Ayappakkam. The autorickshaw and mobile phone used in the offence were seized.
During interrogation, Vasudevan admitted to performing the stunt and filming it on his mobile phone before uploading it to social media. He was produced before the court on Thursday, and further legal action has been initiated, the police said.
