A day after former Gobichettipalayam MLA K.A. Sengottaiyan joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), a banner prominently featuring party founder Vijay was installed in Gobichettipalayam on Friday (November 28, 2025). The banner, which also includes a photograph of Mr. Sengottaiyan, displays images of former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran, J. Jayalalithaa, and C.N. Annadurai.

The nine-time MLA and former Minister, who was removed from all AIADMK posts and later expelled after appearing with O. Panneerselvam and AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran at Pasumpon, had termed his expulsion unjustified and vowed to challenge it legally.

He resigned as MLA and joined TVK on November 27 in Chennai in the presence of Mr. Vijay, who appointed him chief coordinator of the party’s high-level administrative committee. At a subsequent press meet, he said he would continue to carry a picture of ‘Amma’ (Jayalalithaa) in his pocket.

The banner referred to him as a former Minister and MLA. Mr. Sengottaiyan was elected from Gobichettipalayam in 1980, 1984, 1989, 1991, 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021, and earlier from Sathyamangalam in 1977.
