Hyderabad
Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy raised the issue of sudden imposition of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) requirement on teachers appointed before August 23, 2010, in Parliament on Thursday, and said that it caused deep distress among lakhs of teachers across the country.
He pointed out that both the Central and State Governments had repeatedly clarified in the past that teachers appointed before this cut-off date were not required to take the TET, due to which many did not appear for the exam over the last 15 years.
He said that making TET mandatory now and forcing these teachers to clear it within two years is completely unjust. This has pushed thousands of senior teachers into a state of uncertainty and insecurity, and urged the Central Government to immediately take necessary steps to protect the rights of the teachers appointed before the stipulated date.
Earlier, TSUTF State president Chava Ravi, General Secretary Adimulam Venkat, and TSUTF Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district president Mukkerla Yadayya represented to him to raise the issue in Parliament.
