The Wilson Garden police on Friday arrested a bike taxi rider for allegedly molesting a woman during a ride.
The incident came to light after the victim recorded the act on her mobile phone and posted the video on social media before filing a police complaint.
The accused has been identified as Lokesh (28), a resident of Muniyappa Layout in Ullal.
According to the police, the complainant stated that on Thursday around 4 p.m., she booked a Rapido ride from Church Street to her place. During the journey, the rider allegedly touched her legs inappropriately while riding.
Shocked by the sudden act, the woman recorded the incident on her phone but did not ask the rider to stop midway as she was new to the city and unaware of the route.
The police said they tracked down the accused after verifying his details with the Rapido platform. The social media monitoring team, who came across the viral video online, reached out to the victim, obtained a written complaint, and registered an FIR before arresting Lokesh.
Further investigation is under way.
