The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress, and the BJP on Sunday announcedtheir candidates for the November 30 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bypolls in 12 wards that fell vacant following their election to the Assembly.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on November 12.
AAP’s candidates include Ram Swaroop Kanojia from Dakshin Puri, Anuj Sharma from Sangam Vihar A, and Eeshna Gupta from Greater Kailash, among others.
While announcing the candidates, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav stated that the Congress has selected candidates after careful consideration, taking into account their popularity in their respective wards, past performances in various party posts, and their acceptability and winning chances. The Congress candidates include Sarita Kumari from Shalimar Bagh B block and Ajay Kumar Jain from Chandni Chowk, among others.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva also announced the names of party candidates vying for the byelections. The BJP candidates are Jaipal Singh Saral from Mundka, Anita Jain from Shalimar Bagh B ward, Veena Asija from Ashok Vihar, among others.
Ex-AAP MLA quits party
Former AAP MLA Shoaib Iqbal announced his decision to quit the party after it denied him a ticket from the Chandni Mahal ward for the upcoming bypolls.
