A day after remarks by Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury about her bringing a dog into the Parliament Complex, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised the leaders on Tuesday (December 2, 2025), saying their remarks hurt the dignity of Parliament.

When asked about the dog, Ms. Chowdhury said, “Those sitting inside bite, dogs don’t”. During an informal interaction with reporters on Tuesday, Mr. Gandhi purportedly said pets were not allowed outside, but “inside”.

Claiming that the remarks of both the Congress leaders hurt the decorum and dignity of Parliament, BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra said the leaders also insulted all the parliamentarians, including those from the Congress, security personnel, and staff working in Parliament. He urged them to reflect on their statements.
