The Telangana BJP has reiterated its demand that the government should withdraw the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP) of allowing conversion of industrial lands into multi-use zones within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and convene a special Assembly session to discuss the same.
Making a power point presentation at the State party office on Wednesday, Legislature Party Leader A. Maheshwar Reddy, for the third successive day, questioned the motives behind the move and alleged that precious public lands are sought to be sold away at a pittance in variance with the prevailing market rates.
He wanted the government to implement the policy after bringing the land registration rates on a par with the market rates, and disclose the intended measures to deal with pollution or environmental degradation as a result of the industrial usage of the land in the last few decades.
Mr. Reddy wanted to know how the government wants to deal with the prevailing industries and whether they will be allowed to function and whether any study has been taken up to identify how many of the industries in the 22 industrial parks have been polluting. There are small, micro and medium scale enterprises, which are non-polluting and these face a bleak future by lumping all the industrial parks together, he claimed.
The BJP leader accused the government of resorting to “land loot”, with vested interests having already made deals to benefit from the change in the usage of lands. If the earlier BRS Government had initiated such questionable land deals, the present government has made plans to take it up on a large scale.
