BJP State party chief N. Ramchander Rao said on Wednesday that defamation cases worth ₹5 crore were filed against some YouTube channels that are spreading fake news. He challenged those using social media to spread canards to come into the public arena face-to-face.
Addressing the party’s legal and social media cells, he warned that cases would be filed and the Congress and BRS parties’ leaders would be sent to jail for spreading false propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders. He alleged that the BRS and Congress parties are funding some people and attempting to defame the BJP. He called upon the party’s social media warriors to immediately counter any false propaganda they find being spread.
“The mainstream media and print media are acting very responsibly. Similarly, YouTube channels should follow suit,” Mr. Rao said.
