Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (August 17, 2025) criticised the Opposition parties for Delhiās āslow developmentā and expressed satisfaction with the work done by Chief Minister Rekha Guptaās government in a short time.
āAlthough it is an arduous task to uplift Delhi from the mess of previous governments, the current government will strive to restore the pride of Delhi,ā Mr. Modi said.

In a veiled reference to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the PM said āconspiracies were recently hatchedā to pit Delhi and Haryana residents against each other with āfalse claimsā about contaminated water supply. āDelhi and the NCR have now been freed from such negative politics,ā he said.
AAP hit back, saying sanitation workers and teachers were pressured to attend the PMās rally. āThe people of Delhi refuse to attend the rally as they are not with the BJP, which grabbed power through deceit,ā the partyās Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said.
