Hampi: The Rituals of Time, an art book by internationally acclaimed photographer Saibal Das, was launched in Bengaluru earlier this week.
The book, which has been sponsored by BJP’s Rajya Sabha Member Lahar Singh Siroya, was jointly launched by Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, along with Minister for Tourism H.K. Patil and former ambassador to UNESCO Chiranjiv Singh.

Mr. Das’s use of the rare platinum-palladium printing process lends the photographs a timeless depth and archival value. Saibal Das said the book was in the making for nearly a decade. It has text and introduction by journalist Sugata Srinivasaraju.
The Governor described Hampi as ‘a unique confluence of India’s cultural consciousness, architectural brilliance, spiritual depth and timeless artistry. The book offers a soulful journey through time, with Saibal Das capturing life where others may see ruins’.
Mr. Lahar Singh, who played a key role in bringing out the book, said he did so as a personal tribute to Karnataka. “Having migrated from Rajasthan, the people of Karnataka warmly embraced me. This book is my humble gesture of gratitude towards them,” he said.
H. K. Patil said Saibal Das’s book captures the rich heritage, culture and archaeology of Hampi, bringing alive an ancient civilization that was once the cynosure of all eyes.
Chiranjeev Singh said Saibal Das’s work is a photographer’s dream.
