Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kerala unit president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has promised to prepare a “blueprint” for the development of each local body in the State for five years if it is voted to power in the coming elections.

Addressing a ‘meet-the-press’ event organised by the Calicut Press Club here on Wednesday (November 26, 2025), he said that a report card would be submitted before the people every year to explain the development works already undertaken and those in the pipeline. While presenting the Budget, allocation of funds for each project would be explained to the people in a simple manner.

Mr. Chandrasekhar also promised a corruption-free governance model with the help of artificial intelligence and other modern technologies. “Governance at the doorstep of people is going to be our motto. No one will have to go to offices of the respective local bodies for various services. The staff of the local body will reach each house for the purpose,” he said.

The BJP leader alleged that both the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) were joining hands in local bodies to defeat the BJP. He claimed that in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation alone, the UDF had fielded candidates in at least 22 wards to “cut the BJP’s votes”. He further said that these two fronts were also aligning with the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind-backed Welfare Party of India and the Popular Front of India’s political arm, the Social Democratic Party of India, which were “working against the Indian Constitution”. Answering a question, he claimed that the BJP-ruled Palakkad municipality was among the top five municipalities in the State.
