BJP promises to make Thiruvananthapuram an Olympics venue

As far as the grandness of claims in the election manifestos of the various parties in the local body election goes, none can perhaps beat the promise made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.

The party’s manifesto, released on Sunday, promises to request the Union government to make the capital city one of the venues of the 2036 Olympic Games. The promise is being made at a time when the bidding process for the 2036 edition is still in progress, with India among the many bidders. BJP State Chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar had expressed similar aspirations for the city back in 2024 too.
