Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a black flag protest against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during his visit to Coimbatore on Tuesday.
Around 100 BJP youth wing members gathered near the Power House area, close to 100 Feet Road, waving black flags and chanting slogans such as “Go Back Stalin.” They alleged that the State government had deliberately prepared a flawed Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Coimbatore Metro Rail project, accusing it of obstructing the city’s development.
The protesters also raised concerns about women’s safety and claimed that the sale of intoxicants among school and college students in the city was being ignored by the authorities.
The police intervened and took the protesters into custody.
