Telangana BJP has announced that it will hold a mass dharna, observing “People’s Betrayal Day”, at Indira Park on Sunday (December 7). The protest aims to demand the “immediate implementation of pending promises and expose the Congress government’s governance failures”.

Party president N. Ramchander Rao stated in a press release on Friday that the government has completed two years of “betrayal, false promises, incompetence, and total insensitivity to the suffering of people.” Instead of delivering on its commitments, he said, the Congress has pushed the State into “debt, uncertainty, and administrative chaos.”

Mr. Rao charged that farmers, who were promised timely crop support and loan waiver, are now left with tears and shattered hopes. Youth, assured of jobs and a bright future, remain trapped in unemployment and a ‘broken’ TSPSC. Senior citizens and the poor, promised welfare and dignity, are facing cuts, delays, and humiliation, he alleged.

“Every step of the government has been marked by deception and disaster—from the HILT (Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation) policy blunders to chaotic decisions on GHMC expansion,” he said, urging people to support the protest.

In a separate press conference, Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy and former Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy have demanded that the government immediately cancel its anniversary celebrations, apologise to the people for failing to implement promises, and announce a clear action plan with timelines for fulfilling them.

“What has Congress achieved in two years of governance to justify these celebrations? Are these festivals for dodging the promises they made? A government that deceived people by not implementing its commitments has no right to celebrate,” he said.

Mr. Reddy also called on the government to release a White Paper on the implementation of promises, department-wise. Likewise, ministers should provide detailed reports on how many promises in their respective departments have been fulfilled.

He accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of evading responsibility by delaying implementation of promises and taking farmers’ lands in the name of industrial acquisition. He further questioned the government’s inaction on BRS-era scams, including the Kaleshwaram project, phone-tapping, Formula E racing, and others. “The ruling party has opened doors for another land loot scam through HILTP,” Mr. Reddy added.
