The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced protests against the Congress government in the State, accusing it of pursuing anti-farmer policies.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok on Monday said that the party would organise protests at the Assembly constituency level on November 27 and 28 and at the district headquarters on December 1 and 2.
“Farmers are suffering across the State. They haven’t yet got relief for crop loss due to recent floods. The government is not yet ready to open procurement centres for maize. Farmers in the Alamatti belt are suffering without water for the second crop as the government has failed to store water properly. Repair work of crest gates of Tungabhadra dam is going on at a snail’s pace, affecting farmers,” Mr. Ashok alleged.
