The body of a 22-year-old man, a native of Veliyanad in Piravom, who went missing after a boat capsized in Mozambique earlier this month has been identified. The body of Indrajith Santhosh, who went missing after a boat capsized near Beira Port on October 16, was identified by a relative from Piravom who went to Mozambique recently, Piravom MLA Anoop Jacob told The Hindu.
Indrajith, who worked with Scorpio Maritime Management India Pvt Ltd., was among the 21 people — including 14 Indians — on board the boat that capsized while ferrying them to the tanker MT Sea Quest for maintenance work.
“There was earlier information about recovering a body. A person close to the family identified Indrajith’s body, and the family has been informed,” Mr. Jacob said.
He said steps were being taken to bring back the mortal remains of the youth at the earliest.
Indrajith’s father, Santhosh, who also works in the shipping sector in South Africa, had returned home after coming to know about the accident involving his son. The body of another victim, Kollam native Sreeraj Radhakrishnan, 35, was brought home last week.
