Bomb threat to residences of two Ministers at Tiruchi turns out to be a hoax

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad personnel of the Tiruchi City Police were on their toes on Wednesday following bomb threats to the residences of Municipal Administration Minister K. N. Nehru and School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi here. 

Police sources said the threats were sent through email to the State police headquarters at Chennai from where it was conveyed to the Tiruchi City Police. 

Acting on the information immediately, the Tiruchi City Police authorities sent personnel of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad to the residences of the two Ministers at Thillai Nagar and Anna Nagar where detailed checks were carried out. 

As a precautionary measure, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad personnel also conducted checks at the offices of the two Ministers here. However, the threats turned out to be a hoax.   The anti-sabotage team also conducted checks in an aided college near the Chathram bus stand in the city following a bomb threat. That too turned out to be a hoax, the sources added.
