A boy died after getting his neck strangled in a cradle made of a sari in Avadi on Saturday.
The police said the deceased was identified as Hariharan. On Saturday, the mother of the boy, Meena, left to her relative’s house nearby leaving Hariharan at home.
While he was playing in the cradle, his neck got entangled in it, causing him to suffocate and faint. His mother took him to the Avadi Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Avadi police sent the body to Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital for post-mortem.
Police said a couple Satish and Meena are residing in Govardhanagiri area near Avadi and have a daughter Bhagyashree and son Hariharan. A few months ago, Meena’s sister, who was pregnant, had come to their house for delivery for which the couple had made a cradle made of saree.
In this situation, Meena’s sister returned to her home in Andhra Pradesh. However, as Hariharan used to play in the cradle they had left it as it is. On Saturday, Sathish’s wife Meena and his daughter had gone to a nearby relative’s house. In this situation, as usual, while Hariharan was playing in the cradle, his neck got entangled, he got suffocated and fainted. Meena, on finding her son lifeless, rushed him to the Avadi Government hospital where he was pronounced brought dead.
