A senior police officer said reasons for his death would be known after the post-mortem. His accomplices Kallu Arif, 60, and A. Irfan, 48, are undergoing treatment at the same hospital. A team of the city police arrested the three men after shooting them in their right legs, below the knee, in B.K. Pudur near Kuniyamuthur. The three accused stayed with them and burgled 13 flats at the Tamil Nadu Housing Board complex in Kavundampalayam, stealing 42 sovereigns of gold and 500 grams of silver jewellery and around ₹1.5 lakh cash, on Friday afternoon. They were traced to the B.K. Pudur house using footage from surveillance cameras.
